Volunteer Opportunities

We have a network of some 3,500 volunteers that commit available time to helping us serve those in need in our community. Volunteers range from school and church groups to extended families and co-workers to singles and couples. Ages ran the gamut from little infants helping out in the gleaning fields to senior citizens help sort and distribute food. Everyone is welcome!

Volunteers assist in various areas, including sorting, distribution and pre-production food preparation, as well as in our Project Glean program during harvest season. We also have volunteer needs in administration, janitorial and basic office work. We would love to have your help in any of the follwoing areas:

  • Soup processors--On Tuesday morning's each week, we need your help cleaning and peeling vegetables (onions, carrots, potatoes) and preparing the seasonings and other ingredients used in our vegetable soup. The work involves overseeing our commercial-grade vegetable peelers, preparing ingredients, readying it all for delivery to our processing partner and clean up.

  • Sorting and Packaging--Each day of the week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., we need your help sorting and packaging donated salvage produce and non-perishable product and getting it ready for distribution through our Farm Market. The work involves standing at conveyor lines, sorting through product, packaging and labeling product and clean up.

  • Farm Market attendants--Each day of the week, starting at 9 a.m., we distribute thounsands of meals through our Farm Market. Your help is needed to check in hunger relief agencies, coordinate fulfillment of their order, accurately track inventory and clean up.

  • Warehouse Sanitation--On a regular basis, we need your help with general warehouse maintanance. The work involves sweeping, cleaning, mopping, and trash removal of all areas and bathrooms.

  • Office Assistance--Your help is needed with general office admin work, such as answering phones, data entry, sending thank you letters, filing and other administrative tasks.

  • Gleaners--Each Saturday during harvest season (Sept - Oct), we need your help gleaning produce from local farms. This work is great for families, individuals or groups of all ages and is a great outside service project. Individuals who have gleaned for the past three years are especially encouraged to considering being a key volunteer, which involves on-site management of the program at the fields, coordination of equipment placement, filling bins and more.

  • Community food drives/events--The Colorado Rapids, the Denver Broncos, 9News and the National Letter Carriers are all types of community food drive events where we have a great need for volunteers. Your help is needed to man info booths, sort non-perishable product, lift 50-pound boxes and more.

  •  Bread Run Driver--The majority of the food and bread we get donated to us is product that we have to pick up on a weekly, and sometimes daily, basis. If you have a valid commercial drivers license (CDL) and are looking for a volunteer opportunity without a huge committment, we may be able to use you to pick up our bread product each week.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please fill out our volunteer application. Bring the completed documentation with you, so we have the proper paperwork on file. It must be completed in its entirety and signed before we can allow you to volunteer.

In some cases, general community service volunteers are also welcome, such as those individuals seeking to meet high school graduation requirements or non-violent individuals participating in court-ordered community service programs. Bring your paperwork on your start date and we'll put you to work.
