On Track Life Skills Development
Our vocational training and development program provides intensive, structured on-the-job training, coupled with a series of five classroom-style tracks--or sessions--that teach basic life skills necessary to be productive in the workforce and reach a given level of self-sufficiency.
Often times, the individuals enrolled in our program have never been taught some of the most basic things in life, such as managing a checkbook or handling anger and frustration in a productive way. Our program is designed to give participants the basic skills they need to hold a living wage position in the workforce.
The self-paced tracks are taught using a DVD and workbook format in our on-site classroom. Each individual enrolled in our program is required to perform 32 hours of work each week in our food processing facility. During that time, individuals are required to spend one hour each day completing the self-paced course. As individuals complete the classes in each track, they advance to the next one until they have progressed through all five tracks toward graduation of the 6-month program. Participants are measured after each class using a mix of surveys and worksheets and a comprehensive test after each track.
